Scientific research and development work of the Center includes activities in the domain of civil engineering and environmental protection.

Elaboration of environmental protection and improvement programmes

• Identification of polluters, sources of pollution and their spatial relations
• Identification of types of pollution (air, water, land)
• Creation of pollution registers and cadastres of polluters
• Definition of priority sources of pollution according to natural resources (air, water, land)

Environmental protection against solid communal, harmful and dangerous waste

• Elaboration of evaluation studies and selection of locations to deposit communal waste
• Provision of conditions to arrange the selected space to deposit communal waste
• Creation of all main executive projects for regional communal waste dumpsites
• Elaboration of studies, project analyses and projects on how to treat harmful and dangerous substances
• Elaboration of all main executive projects for depots for harmful and dangerous waste
• Consulting, investment engineering and staff training during construction of sanitary dumpsites and depots of harmful and dangerous waste

Water protection

• Creation of investment-technical documentation for plants for cleaning waste waters from all types of industry, dumpsites and depots of harmful and dangerous waste
• Creation of investment-technical documentation for systems for collecting, transferring and cleaning of waste waters, which consist of:
  • central city plant for waste water cleaning
  • individual plants for industrial pre-treatment of waste water to provide the quality to drain it into the drainage network
  • drainage network which collects all waste waters from a city and drains it into the central city collectors for the final cleaning stage
• Creation of investment-technical documentation to protect drinking water and water supply
